1. Hubbard Inn, River North, 110 W Hubbard St
Hubbard Inn is a classy River North bar. It has three floors, all unique on its own. In the first floor come for their raw and sangria bar specials, Monday through Friday from 4pm to 7pm. Everyone knows River North can break your bank but Hubbard Inn's regular happy hour specials include $1 oysters and clams, $2 shrimp and scallop crudo, $3 crab legs and lobster cups, $4 rotating drafts, $5 martinis, $20 build-your-own sangria pitchers and more. After a healthy meal, go upstairs and mix and mingle with more people at their loungy second floor. And if you're really looking into a long night without going far, step up to the third floor for a night of dancing at their Key Club room.
2. Brando's Speakeasy, Loop, 343 S Dearborn St
If you're in the loop, then you probably have heard of Brando's Speakeasy. It's a lively karaoke bar in the weekend but on Wednesdays and Thursday can be a good day for professionals to unwind without the packed weekend crowds. Besides not having to walk far, the friendly service and friendly karaoke goers will make your even the roughest of days a fun night at Brando's Speakeasy. Drinks at Brando's are always affordable despite the premium location they're in.
3. Joy District, River North, 112 W Hubbard St
Like its sister bar Hubbard Inn next door, Joy District is an unstuffy and uptempo bar in the heart of River North. You can go to Joy District with a group of friends with a good beer or martini or go alone and people watch as the vibe is always happening. Joy District has more promotional happy hour specials, so go to their website to find out their latest ones. Whether it's a dinner with friends or a cocktails, Joy District's dramatic elegance and lively atmosphere make it the ideal location for any gathering.
4. Henry's, River North, 18 W Hubbard St
Henry's is a chill bar with craft cocktails & sliders in a loungey, hip space with music, murals, games & pool. Their current happy hour specials are Tuesdays-Saturdays (5-8pm) and you can enjoy $5 tallboys, $5 well drinks, and $6 wine by the glass. As mentioned they have games and pool table which is always popular. A lively crowd forms around 6pm and will stay that way for most of the evening. Their fun and funky Rec room downstairs opens at 9pm.
5. Lone Wolf, West Loop, 806 W Randolph St
Definitely the go to bar in the West Loop. Uniquely designed, Lone Wolf has a character to itself. Because of this, the atmosphere is fun and lively plus they play great music. Sit by the bar or grab a table with friends. A good place to people watch and just a great time to shoot the bull with friends.
6. The J Parker, Lincoln Park, 1816 N Clark St
FInally a rooftop on our list. The J Parker is known for its handcrafted cocktails, a light New American menu & city views on the Hotel Lincoln's swanky rooftop. It has one of the best views of downtown Chicago and the lakefront. People are always well dressed and it's a great scene. What if it rains? Well The J Parker offers $5 Froses when the roof closes. Not bad for for a little rain.
7. The Globe Pub, North Center, 1934 W Irving Park Rd
Time to go international. The Globe Pub has many European beers and is the place to be to watch world games like the World Cup. But it's also a friendly neighbohood bar and it's close to the el which makes it an easy stop for a drink before lounging on your couch. The neighborhood pub & sports bar with European soccer on TV, a jumbo beer list & British fare makes a great spot for happy hour.
8. Tapster, Wicker Park, 2027 W North Ave
If you want a fun atmosphere, friendly and lively crowds, then come to Tapster in Wicker Park. Right near the Damen blue line, this new Wicker Park establishment has self-serving taps, from cocktails, wines to beers. Its selections are plentiful and surprisingly in good quality too. Prices are more than reasonable and considerably less expensive than ordering your own drinks in other bars. Though they don't have a kitchen, you can order food from their partner restaurants and they will deliver the food to you at the bar. Besides the fun of getting your own drinks, what makes Tapster truly worth going is the fun and loyal crowds they have every night. Stop by as you'll definitely have a good time.
9. Untitled Supper Club, River North, 111 W Kinzie St
Untitled Supper Club is probably the most unpretentious posh bar you'll enter. The details in this cavernous bar is to be admired. Add in great mixologist and their endless whisky selections, you'll think you're in cocktial heaven. Plus they are the only venue in River North that has an incredible variety show on Thursdays and Fridays - and they are free for customers to witness and be entranced. Whether you dress up or come in your business casual atire, you'll feel at home in this modern speakeasy in the heart of downtown Chicago.
10. Logan Bar and Grill, Logan Square, 2230 N California Ave
It seems like every time you walk through Logan Square a new bar pops up from the ground. While that may be an exaggeration, Logan Square is the trendiest place in Chicago now. But there is one old school bar that hasn't changed and that's a good thing. Logan Bar and Grill sounds exactly what you'll get. It's a great place to drink, eat and people watch as it's right at the epicenter of Logan Square night life. It has a beer garden and patio that is missing in many of the other Logan spots. And right next to the California blue line, it's a perfect stop for you and your friends to meet up right after work.
